Review of Arena (2011) by Nick K — 28 Jan 2012

This I a dumb action film that is probably one of the stupidest movies of its type. The characters are well under developed and it seems that most of the film's budget went in to Samuel L. Jackson's pocket.

And all Samuel L. Jackson did was mock the roles that he's most notable for by quoting lines from the famous characters he has played in other films. Kellen Lutz who plays the main character is stale as ever and he played a pointless vampire teen in Twilight.

Two other characters of note are the executionor who acts as the main characters rival who I can only describe as pantyhose face and the woman who recruits Kellan Lutz who mainly walks around naked and takes dramatic showers.

Though I might add that she is the only character that really developes in this entire movie. The movie is entirely unorigninal and is made up of all the cliches of this genre of film. I really wouldnt recommend this film considering there are so many movies in the genre that are better and more watchable like "the running man".

I thought Samuel L. Jackson couldnt get any lower than The Spirit. I guess I was wrong.
