Review of Area 51 (2015) by William N — 26 Aug 2016
I'm giving this 5 to balance out some of the negative scores, watched this on Netflix where it had 1 star (so I went into it expecting nothing).
I was presently surprised.
Spoilers below (but only a little).
1) Yeah area 51 was not as guarded as it could of been but they literally had to build stealth suits get near it and they have I'd cards, secret maps from an ex employee and finger prints for scanners so what more do you want from a Sci fi film? - if we're gonna point out flaws in Sci fi films well be here till the end of time.
2) Yeah it takes a while to build up, but that's building the suspension and also explaining how they even think they might get in - it's nice not to see a film run in guns blazing and the build up I found very enjoyable.
3) ending - it ends like so many films and tv shows do with out an explanation - but I thought that was executed well as it leaves a lot open and don't need one, uch better ending that Blair witch or the sopranos.
4) 2nd watch, when watching with out expectations you would probably focus more on the plot and other weird bits like the floating rock and alien ship (they were very very cool).
5) possible sequel, ending easy made a 2nd film possible.
6) better than all the fast and furious films, the hills have eyes 2 and jeepers creepers - screw the hype, go in with no expectations and you'll have an enjoyable ride.
All the best.
Bill.
