Review of Are You Here (2013) by Kate K — 27 Oct 2017

I'm really surprised to see the reviews about this movie. I checked them after I watched it. I thought it was great -- definitey non formulaic, and...although I'm actually a very formulaic person (taste-wise).

.. my wife and I still really liked this movie because of the actors and the fact that... they made it feel... I don't know.. "safe" isn't the right word, but it made it more fun to watch a non-formulaic movie.

I wouldn't have stuck with this if it was an indy film... So, now that we've established I'm shallow, what I LIKED about this movie was that it is real people, in unexpected but real ways -- like.

.. I KNOW these people, maybe even parts of me are in these people, but certainly I know these people. A mix of confusion and avoidance and truth and searching... and getting to some place that's better but still not quite right.

.. We both highly recommend the movie, ignore the reviews! It was absolutely worth the time!
