Review of Are We There Yet? (2005) by Dino B — 23 Dec 2010
It is so difficult for everyone in the family to agree on one movie everyone will enjoy. "Are We There Yet?" contained a little bit of everything that everyone in the family enjoyed, opening with a laugh, offering some action and adventure to compliment it's variety of humor, combined with a dash of drama to tug the old heart strings; this is a funny film the entire family will enjoy. This movie is the new millennium's equivalent to "Home Alone" (starring McCauly Culkin).
The story is quite believable. Some men will go to amazing lengths to impress a woman, and most children will go to amazing lengths to "protect" their mother. This movie is what results from a collision of these lengths.
Ice Cube's performance was refreshing and surprisingly humorous. I applaud his effort and hope that in the future he will consider more humorous family films. The children chosen for these roles were a perfect pair, offering believable sibling chemistry.
Our children can never agree on anything. They all agreed that this movie was hysterical. My husband and I couldn't stop laughing. We are so glad to see a film the entire family could enjoy.
Thumbs up to everyone involved in making this film!!!
