Review of Arctic Tale (2007) by Keith C — 19 Nov 2007
Artic Tale [from the makers of March of the Penguins] (3 out 5 icebergs) â?? Watch two polar bear cubs and their mother, along with a sea lion and their pack and an artic fox go through the circle of life from birth, to death and re-birth of the next generation as the animals fight survival and hunger.
The story is told in a very SLOW pace (the movie was 1 ½ hours and should have been told in 45 minutes as most of the theatre was yawning) through unfocused national geographic photograph (this movie should have been shot in HD to present all the beauty of nature, unfortunately we get great images presented in out of focus shots) and the final message that 20% of the artic tundra disappears each year and expected to totally disappear in the year 2040 is left to the credits of children giving Al Goreisms of how to save the planet.
The message is excellent, but disjointed from the rest of the movie and never comes across in the story presented. Save the $8-$10 ticket price and give it to the World Wildlife Fund, the National Wildlife Fund and other nature charities to do your part in helping save the planet (oh and do the Al Goreisms too).
