Review of Arctic (2018) by Grantd243 — 10 Oct 2019
Arctic is all about man versus nature. There’s not much dialogue, and there’s not a hidden meaning behind the story. It’s a realistic depiction of how hard it would be for a stranded human to survive the arctic for more than a relatively short amount of time.
Fairly simple wounds can prove fatal, food is scarce, and even just a short walk can take up most of a person’s energy. I didn’t find a wasted frame in this entire film, and although there are very few moments of action, I was on the edge of my seat until the end.
I don’t see it get any sort of award attention because it’s so simple, but I do think it’s one of the better films of the year and Mads Mikkelsen puts in a tremendous performance.
