Even though the dead mistress/investigation story doesn't seem completely necessary, it would rob the film of one of its best performances: a young actor named Nate Parker, who I think is Oscar-worthy in his scenes with a great Richard Gere.

Movies like this often live and die with the acting, and its top notch throughout and very well directed. Its a shame this movie didn't make it far in the theatres -- but if you can rent it or download, I highly recommend it.

In a way its this years' "Margin Call" - a moral story about the masters of the universe as they unravel but never fall completely apart.
