Review of Arbitrage (2012) by Roxanne R — 02 Feb 2013
Agree with critics on this one!! Concur that this film is "first rate and Oscar caliber with Richard Gere firing on all cylinders" yes indeed. Oh man talk about an intense and powerful thriller that keeps you guessing how will it end.
We have a devious and greedy hedge-fund manager named Robert Miller (Richard Gere) celebrating his 60th birthday and eager to sell his trading empire to a bank before his fraud is revealed. In the course of a few days, Miller's life comes tumbling down and he must somehow eliminate the obstacles found on his path to finish the sale of his company and clear him of any wrong-doing while maintaining his perfect image as devoted and faithful husband and father.
Question is- can he outsmart everyone else? This film reminds me so well of the proverbial saying: A day of worry is more exhausting than a week of work. Fantastic job in terms of acting, casting, writing, directing.
This film is a class act all the way and I hope it receives a few Oscar nominations. Bravo Zulu to writer and director Nicholas Jarecki- this is the type of film that keeps me glued to my seat. RECOMMENDED!!
