Dull, predictable and never sure whether it wants to be Wall Street revisited or an episode of Law and Order, Arbitrage isn't even redeemed by a strong central performance by Gere. It's a shame - the opportunity was there to investigate the mindset of a privileged sociopath, but the film regularly veers off into repetitive nonsense, with scenes which add nothing at all either to the story or central character.

Only near the end, when the criminally wasted Susan Sarandon returns, is there any real friction and nsight into Gere's relationships but it's too little too late. Sub-TV movie fare, which never delivers on the suspense it constantly tantalises you with.
