"Arbitrage".
Date Viewed: December 23 2012.
Rating: Four Stars out of Five.
Written and Directed by Nicholas Jarecki.
Starring: Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Roth, Brit Marling, Laetita Casta, Nate Parker, Stuart Margolin, Chris Eigeman, and Bruce Altman.
Richard Gere gives one of his best performances in "Arbitrage" where he plays Robert Miller a Bernie Madoff-like executive or New York hedge-fund manager completely over his head. Miller desperately is trying to complete the sale of his trading empire before the depths of his fraud are revealed. Just as he was about to unload his troubled empire, a fatal accident forces Miller to juggle between family, business, and crime. And Detective Michael Bryer (Tim Roth) is right on Miller's trail investigating the case.
This is probably Richard Gere's most conflicted performance yet since his early years from "Days of Heaven" and "An Officer and a Gentlemen".
Richard Gere received a Golden Globe nomination for this role as Best Actor-Drama.
