Rating: PG for Mild Horror.

Tagline: Eight Legs, Two Fangs and an Attitude.

Australian Gross - $3,094,631.

A deadly new species of spider hitches a ride to a small town and mates with a domestic spider with deadly results. The spiders, and their offspring terrorise the town killing people.

Fun. It's pretty hard to take a spider film seriously, because lets face it... it's a hairy long legged freak. But if you add a little comical humour into the mix, you can create the right amount of tension and suspense, and still make the audience jump especially when you know a spider is about to jump out. This film successfully provides us with that criteria, and also adds the sub-plot of the lead character having a fear of spiders. The ending was always going to be predictable, but what would make it not be so boring is if we actually enjoyed it, which we did. A face-off between spider and man, and in the end man won of course.

The plot has alot of intriguing things about it. Everybody has a little fear of spiders, and a film entitled "Arachnophobia" which is the fear of spiders comes out, you ultimately wanna see it. The tension and suspense in the plot was great, and characters were likeable and sometimes relatable.

I'm glad real spiders were used in the film, CGI or fake spiders would be unnecessary and cheap in the eyes of the viewer, and with real spiders it makes it much more scary.

Overall "Arachnophobia" maintains consistency in keeping you watching, and is fun and enjoyable eight-legged fun. My rating is 3/5.
