Review of Arachnophobia (1990) by Joe H — 27 Mar 2010
Let me start by saying that I hate spiders. Spiders scare me more than anything. I saw this in the theater when it came out and it still creeps me out to this day. Don't get me wrong, I hate spiders, but I love this movie.
Arachnophobia takes a very simple B-movie sounding story and turns it into a quality horror/comedy experience. I think the reason this remains so creepy is because they used real spiders in most scenes. The "small" spiders seem to have a leg span of a small coaster. It has a nice balance of humor and excitement with plenty of heebie-jeebie moments.
A fun popcorn movie to watch with friends and the lights off. Arachnophobia will have you looking around your surroundings for creepies before you know it.
