Review of Arachnophobia (1990) by Tony's F — 11 Dec 2010
If you are afraid of spiders than you will be very afraid of this movie, As it will send chills up and down Youre spine. Who new Spiders were so clever?
A new,Rare and very deadly spider has been imported to a small town in california. The Spider starts to lay its eggs in a small country town house, and then these big and scary looking spiders go on a killing spree, they kill all the local and friendly people by their venomous bite that kills their prey in just a matter of seconds. The Police think it might be murder, and they start to think that the main Actor which plays the new doctor in town might have something to do with it, or maybe they are wrong.
The story is a pritty simple one, A family move into a new house that just happens to be the house where the spiders are living, and They are moving there due to the Husband's new job as the local Doctor. The thing is that the husband actually has Arachnophobia, so that simply means that he has a real fear for spiders and plus this all happend when he was around two years old I believe, he was laying in his bed and a big spider walked up his leg and he just froze, he couldnt move as if he was paralyzed. From that point on he has been terrified from the little things, and that is what makes this movie even more terriying and funny at the same time.
Im not going to lie that im not scared of spiders, ive actually always hated them. " Im one of those guys that looks under the seat before I sit down" lol, maybe I have Arachnophobia. There is also something said in the movie that made me go "Eekkk", and that was something about being around 250,000 spiders that live in every one acer of land, and im hoping that was just a joke and not a true fact.
The reasons why I thought the movie itself was creepy is because all the spiders look real, and we arent just talking about one spider just like only one shark in jaws, im actually talking about hundreds of big, black and ugly spiders that creep up on you and plan their kill. The spiders are really clever in the movie they know how to kill these humans, such as a spider hides in a cereal box so when someone puts their hand in it to grab a snack they than get a unexpected "Fright than bite".
Another scene that I thought was effective was where a spider sneakly makes its way into the popcorn bowl, so when the nice and innocent lady sticks her hand in it she than gets a dose of deadly venom, This is some real scary scenes that will make you check behind youre curtains before you sleep at night, unless you love spiders than that is a totally different story.
The suspense in this film is enjoyable, just like the film Jaws. The family that live in the house decide to call the experts in to try and figure out what these spiders are, where they come from and why the spiders keep multiplying so quickly. The answer is that there is a Big Momma spider near by that is laying lots and lots of eggs, so they all have to try and track down where the momma spider is so they can Terminate it before the entire town of people get bit by these venomous little creatures and all die. From the point they go on their little journey this film is jam-packed with alot of exciting, creepy and funny moments that didnt bore me one bit, it actually was getting better and better than an awesome ending topped it all off. I recommend this one to everybody, especially people that sleep with their windows closed and have fly spray close by, to kill the little ugly creatures if they see them.
RATING-4/5.
