Review of Aquaman (2018) by Sasha L — 06 Jan 2019
I gotta say, this movie was very entertaining, however I found myself having a hard time getting fully into it because of the sloppy cinematic aspect and my lack of emotional connection to the characters.
The two main protagonists felt very flat and basic, and were very underwhelming, like a lot of action movies. I felt that for such a long movie most of the small cinematic aspects got neglected, for instance at the beginning one of the âbad guysâ? pulls out and puts away the sword, and the sound effect sounds very fake.
At another part, the slow motion got wonky and felt like it was shot in 30fps (which is very laggy for slow motion). I think this is a very highly demanding, critical movie that is insanely hard to pull off.
I think it would have been infinitely better if it didnâ(TM)t feel rushed and the characters had a lot more depth to them. I also felt as if they made a point and went out of their way to show off the female main protagonistâ(TM)s body in almost an in your face kind of way.
I donâ(TM)t see an issue with the outfit of choice, but the way the cinematographers seemed to strategically place the angles or composition of the shot to see how we could notice her body more took away from the movie.
Again, it was entertaining, but not worth seeing if youâ(TM)re bothered by any of the above stuff I mentioned. If you have no problems with these aspects, then I say go for it and watch it, as itâ(TM)s still entertaining.
