Review of Aquaman (2018) by Dheevesh C — 09 Jan 2019
From a bunch of joke to literally a badass hero!!what a transformation for AQUAMAN.Coupled with spectacular visual effects, strong acting from the starcast especially patrick wilson as OCEAN MASTER and jason momoa as AQUAMAN while amber heard did enough as mera, the movie does atone a bit for the disappointment DC fans had from JUSTICE LEAGUE even if form a wider perspective, JUSTICE LEAGUE was quite entertaining.James wan has really surpass himself here giving comic book fans a hero and villain directly ripped off from the comic pages, a scary marina trench scene and of course a breathtaking design of atlantis.
It has a rather good storyline;simple but effective showing us arthur as a though guy to arthur being doubtful about himself and understanding his importance in all this turmoil to finally having arthur embracing his destiny to become the a king.More could have been added but, for now it all played well.
In terms of tone this one adopts a lighter tone compared to MAN OF STEEL and even BATMAN v SUPERMAN and all I can say it that having a lighter tone contributed greatly to the success of this movie. However, there were many cheesy dialogues incorporated confirming that MARVEL does somethings better. At times, those dialogues were even cringy but these are errors you can overlook.
To sum I would just say that AQUAMAN is a visual treat to all superhero movie lovers be it marvel or dc eventually. There are some errors but the good outweights the bad and AQUAMAN might be the movie which brings the DCEU back on track and give them a fresh start.
It's a must see and i'll give it 4/5.
