Review of Aquaman (2018) by Simon H — 11 Jan 2019
Another year and another film which underwhelms for DC and Warner Bros. Is this film truly God awful terrible?
No, but the film is dull, the narrative and plot points are cliched, some of the acting leaves alot to be desired, while some deserves much more than the script gave them.
It is visually bold at times with Atlantis looking great and James Wan is clearly having fun, the scene in Sicily and the scenes where Jason Momoa and Amber Heard are attacked by sea Zombies (that's what I'm calling them) was well worked and showcased Wan's horror roots.
Unfortunately another likeable performance from Momoa doesn't save you from the feeling that you're watching the same old thing only using comic book characters.
Like I said it isn't terrible but it's nowhere near the levels of Man of Steel or the over rated Wonder Woman. In the end it is average nothing more.
