You can not escape the fact that as a piece of cinema ,this is spectacular ,the colours are bright,the pallet colourful ,the scenes panoramic . The CGI is a masterpiece ,however ,this is style over substance ,there is little or no plot ,no character development and most of the script is exposition.

My main criticism of DC has always been that it treats comic books like comics ,not trying to elevate them (e except when they allow writers such as Alan Moore ,Frank Miller or Jeph Loeb step outside their rules ),and this movie is a DC comic book on film, I spent the first twenty minutes wondering how a submarine lifted by Aquaman could stay afloat without losing its ballast ,that may work on s comic but not in s film .

I was bored about one and a half hours in and ending up playing a game of guessing which film they are stealing from now ,the list was quite long , The Little Mermaid ,Indiana Jones ,Sahara ,National Treasure ,Fifth Element ,Superman ,Star Wars The Phantom Menace ,Star Wars Revenge of the Sith ,Iron Man ,Journey to the Centre of The Earth ,Godzilla to name a few.

The actors ham it up ,giving us foot to eye level moody stares constantly , and there is so much 300 style editing it's ridiculous. I loved three scenes ,the battle with Black Manta, Arthur's first view of Atlantis and the drop into the trench (even though I could nitpick all three ),apart from that ,i was bored .
