Review of Aquaman (2018) by Abi N — 26 Dec 2018
Like most of the top critics I am quite unimpressed by Aquaman. I believe this movie should've reborn Aquaman into the DC Univerese as a superhero in the same league as Superman. In previous years Aquaman has been classed as a clown that wears a green and orange onesie riding on flying fish.
Aquaman reveals more of Aquaman's past than before but does not fulfil many of the aspects that I was looking for in this movie. One aspect that didn't really hit a home run was how quickly the movie progressed through events, I was just beginning to grasp that Arthur was needed in Atlantis when boom massive wave before boom he was in Atlantis like slow things down a bit.
Another aspect was one particular casting choice and that was Nicole Kidman, I found her to literally completely ruin the whole movie for me. Her acting was cheesy and monotonous and I believe a Queen needs to be regal in both her actions and her looks.
She is literally the whole reason I decided to skip watching Australia, even Hugh Jackman who I believe to be one of our greatest actors of our century wasn't enough to overpower the simple fact that she was in it.
3 stars, simply because everyone else's acting was amazing especially Jason Momoa and Amber Heard, graphics were amazing, plot lacking slightly, action was top level extreme but sadly lost 2 stars for one particular casting choice and the fact the whole movie was on fast forward.
