Review of Aquaman (2018) by Hugh J — 26 Dec 2018
I walked away saying "I loved it". Was it a perfect movie? No. But how could it be? It had to build a huge world that was completely uncharted territory for most viewers. It was no small undertaking.
Understandably, some of the exposition was clunky and some elements of the story line had to be rushed. But there was way more good about this movie than bad. The action set pieces were incredible, on par with Captain America, Winter Soldier.
The CG world of Atlantis was breath-taking and creative. The characters were developed fairly well considering how many there were. It had heart and soul. Jason Momoa was such a refreshing new take on the character of Arthur Curry.
This movie knew what it was trying to be and it nails it. I give it a solid 7.5/10. What a fun ride. I'm glad DC decided to focus on solo movies for now. However, I can't wait to see Aquaman team up with Wonder Woman.
Their worlds could fit easily together! Maybe In Flashpoint!
