A nonsensical plot combined with incredible CGI effects and endless exposition makes for a visually appealing yet unbelievably boring and frustrating experience. Boring because the lack of character development means you're not interested in the characters.
Frustrating because of the director's complete ignorance of logic and reason when creating an undersea world of technologically advanced fish people that after thousands of years still resort to hand-to-hand single combat to choose their leader.
