Review of Aquaman (2018) by Evan S — 22 Dec 2018
Anyone who knows me in real life can attest to the fact that I'm a huge Star Wars fan. At 14, with no money, I started planning ways I could build and design my own Mandalorian armor. I've built my own prop lightsaber from scratch.
I pretend to use the force for every automatic door I come across. I'm THAT kind of fan. I love Star Wars with a passion. So when I say that Aquaman is 100x better than Star Wars... And no, I don't say this because Temuera Morrison is in it.
The story of Arthur's self-discovery, paired with the subplots of family, love, and environmental consciousness make for great storytelling. Visually, there wasn't a single thing that did not impress me.
The shots used are amazing and beautifully captivating, just like the artistic scenery and design. The score perfectly balanced the line of being unnoticeable yet stellarly present. James Wan, his cast, his crew, and DC have all done a wonderful job.
This is the type of film I desire to one day make: artistic, moving, and enjoyable.
