Review of Aquaman (2018) by Dan S — 23 Dec 2018

So, I have finally gotten around to watching Aquaman. I came in with a opened mind. I'm someone who hasn't enjoyed any of the installments in the DCEU. Don't get me wrong I love DC I just haven't really liked the live action films they been making for the past few years.

Man of Steel I personally felt to be the best in the franchise. I thought Wonder Woman was mediocre and quite forgettable. And everything else to be quite terrible. But ill be sure to expand on when I make those movies individual reviews.

So, I want so start my review off with saying the things I liked about this movie. I enjoyed Black Manta... a lot. I am very biased when it comes to Black Manta he was one of the first Supervillans I was ever introduced to.

I felt as they did his character well, and he has an understandably motivation plus a nice backstory. I feel as the same goes to Orm. I thought Orm wasn't a terrible villain he had understandable motivations.

Overall I didn't any characters in this film to be dislike able or done badly. The visual effects looked a lot better than what I was expecting. I felt as they did a decent job with representing each Kingdom, and how each individual one is different from one another.

The story had its moments. I'm trying real hard to come up with positive things that I enjoyed from this movie. Now for the things I disliked. I found the movie to be pretty predictable at times, but I wouldn't necessarily name this something bad.

Now for something I REALLY disliked which was his suit. I just personally found it pretty ugly. I found so many plot holes within the story it'll take me forever to really explain them all. Something I dislike about the DCEU movies is that sometimes they completely forget about everything else in that universe.

For example how the Alanteans are planning to declare war over the entire 'surface' world. But they forget they have to get through a Kryptonian, the Amazons, highly trained officials, etc. I also found some of the fight scenes to be quite nauseating at times.

Overall I found this movie to be fine it wasn't good neither was it bad.
