Review of Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters (2007) by Simon L — 26 Apr 2008
Let's be honest here: the very concept of ATHF as a movie is pretty laughable. Since the miniscule budget and complete inability to mantain a train of thought for a full 15 minutes are the foundations of the original series, Colon Movie Film for Theaters ranks alongside Mystery Science Theater 3000 as one of the most fundamentally silly big-screen adaptations ever.
That's not to say it isn't freaking hilarious, just that it's a freaking hilarious movie that really has no reason to exist. At an hour plus, the almost dadaist level of randomness becomes more frusterating than funny, especially since the film constantly dangles the illusion of a plot (the origin of the Aqua Teens) only to laugh at the very idea of actually explaining anything.
Oh, and maters aren't helped by the fact that the single funniest moment (Mastadon's song) is at the very begining.
