Review of Apt Pupil (1998) by Geoff O — 22 Feb 2010
Brian Singer, the acclaimed director of the cult classic "The Usual Suspects" delves into a different directing style with this film adaptation of Stephen Kings short story of the same name.
Apt Pupil shows what a teenage kid, Todd Bowden who is the top of his class does when he figures out one of his neighbors Arthur Denker is really a is nazi war criminal named Kurt Dussander who is wanted by the Israli government. Ian McKellen gives a great performance as Kurt Dussander and Brad Renfro does some pretty good acting as Todd Bowden. I personally think that the best part of this movie is the acting from Ian McKellen in every scene he is in.
