Not nearly as terrible as it's reported to be. April Fools Day has quite a few good, cheesy 80's style laughs, relatively suspenseful moments and an ending like none other. If you can suck it up as horror fan and accept the ending, this is actually and all right little horror flick.
It's a one of a kind slasher, and worth a look. Plus, Amy Steel rocks no matter what she's in. Though I like her better battling Jason...
