Review of Approaching the Unknown (2016) by Hector S — 26 Jun 2016
APPROACHING THE UNKNOWN (2016) ~ An amazingly and terrifyingly creative venture! Well acted and well directed, this is a gritty and seemingly realistic journey, as seen through the eyes of an Astronaut, who thirsts for the unknown secrets of our Galaxy.
An individual who would rather sacrifice his mortal existence, to take in all knowledge, than to return to a rather banal existence on Earth. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, which generates it's own unique pace and maintains a silent intensity throughout.
Two elements, which are offered from the fantastic script are: video casts made by students on earth, sharing as to what their interpretation of space travel and our solar system; as well as, amazing spacescapes, which are breath-takingly brought-in during the film's later half are essential in enhancing this cinematic work.
Throughout, the film, I found it natural to identify with the Astronaut's voyage, his existence and his troubles. I must admit that I was at a loss by the film's ending and yet, it didn't upset me.
I was all right with the film's arcane ending. it seemed to fit the narrative well. This work was correct and allowed by my standards to enjoy such an enigmatic conclusion. I would highly recommend this to those interested in the mysteries of our universe, or those simply inclined towards exploration of any kind.
