Review of Appleseed: Ex Machina (2007) by Lance E — 30 Mar 2008
So, I never saw the last Appleseed they did. Just missed it I guess. I saw the trailer for this, and was kinda freaked. I mean, the closest I've seen to something like this was Final Fantasy: spirits within.
This isn't as realistic looking as that movie, but it's better than that movie(and besides, they were going for the anime look and it works a lot better than you'd expect). I thought the story was cool.
I give them kudos for not going for the obvious cheesy love triangle they could've gone for(not to mention, they didn't make her new partner look like an douche). It kinda turns into a zombie movie for a bit, which I found funny.
Honestly, this could've been really bad, but it's not. It's great. I hope thy do at least one Ghost in the Shell picture like this. I also hope Namco and Capcom and all those other dumb game companies that like to sell liscences to any harry dick and tom are taking notes.
