Review of Appleseed: Ex Machina (2007) by Brett M — 09 Jun 2008

Given the combination of Shinji Aramaki, John Woo and Masamune Shirow, you would expect this to be a very, very pretty movie. And you'd be right. This is a stunningly beautiful film and the action sequences are breathtaking.

However, like the first movie in the series, the plot is fairly simple. Additionally there's some really schmaltzy scenes (no doubt Woo's influence). That said, it's well worth watching: I give it 4 crushed robot doves out of 5.
