Review of Appleseed: Ex Machina (2007) by Brian I — 12 Jul 2008
Visually, it's well up there with the most jaw-dropping films I've seen, well past my forgiving the designers for having moved the heliopoli so close to the ocean for no apparent reason. Plot-wise, however, it's a bit of a shambles.
The story is good but posesses no level of intrigue, and while its delivery does ring familiar with some of Shirow's manga style, quite often its characters don't.
