Review of Appaloosa (2008) by Olli H — 04 May 2010
Nicely styled, old-fashion-like western tale about two peacekeepers, Virgil (Ed Harris) and Everett (Viggo Mortensen) who arrive to the little town called Appaloosa to rid it from a evil Mr Bragg (Jeremy Irons).
Now it might have worked better as a miniseries, but the quite awesome dialogue and the realistic gunfights makes it very enjoyable. Ed Harris & Viggo Mortensen form an excellent duo and they're playing off each other with some fun scenes and excellent acting.
It was nice to see Jeremy Irons as well. The soundtrack were a bit off, but the ending credits had some Tom Petty on it and that was nice touch. Overall, "Appaloosa" was a great western made in a time where westerns are a rare movie breed.
