Review of Apostle (2018) by Pepperg — 31 Jul 2020
Ever watched a movie that was competently made and well acted, but that failed to engage you, and where you found yourself laughing at scenes that were supposed to be tense, or realizing that the actors were doing a better job than the director, screenwriter, and editor?
For me, this was such a movie. It looks good, has the benefit of great actors, and starts off with a tense and promising story. But after an hour or so, it becomes clearer that the story cannot deliver, that the director/editor lets it drag on too long, and that you no longer care about what happens. Skip this one if you have high standards.
