Review of Apollo 18 (2011) by Dave M — 23 Feb 2012
Caught up with this on DVD after missing its run at the cinema. A great idea and the camera work was decent without being too grainy/shaky/blurred etc. It looked good and had the period features, including the film work, quite perfect. However the film went straight into the 'lost footage' with no reactions from the world today so there was no sense of the impact that such a find could have. It started to get almost boring as another day was spent on the lunar surface which means that there was plenty of running time that could have been better spent on assessing its impact as well as the footage itself. There's also the obvious question of how the footage made it back to earth - was there an Apollo 19? Would have been great to end on such as possibility.
Again a great idea but also so much lost potential.
