Review of Apollo 18 (2011) by Gene B — 30 Apr 2012
I really wanted to like this movie. Few ideas sound more awesome than a found-footage film about a secret Apollo mission gone horribly wrong. But for the most part, Apollo 18 missed its mark. We see how cramped the living quarters are aboard the lander, but we never feel like we're in there with them.
I feel the technical limitations of the found-footage genre hurt this movie more than helped it. And regarding just what happened to the crew of Apollo 18, all I'll say is that I was disappointed.
A lot. I'm totally willing to suspend disbelief, but I've got my limits. The four alternate endings are short enough to give a watch, and one of them was pretty sweet.
