Review of Apollo 18 (2011) by Spencer K — 01 Jul 2012
I actually really liked this movie and I'm not sure why no one else does. I saw Prometheus Imax 3D and after that I saw this movie and genuinely enjoyed this movie instead of going along with it. For me the moon and technology made the movie much more believeable and immersive and the characters and story were cohesive and made sense. I just can't buy humans travelling to other systems at the speed of light anymore it just doesn't make sense.
The low margins of error are suspenseful enough for going to the moon and the hostile environment worked really well in my opinion and it expressed a normalcy in the beginning so when the trouble starts you have something to contrast it with (like Die Hard 1 :-).
My biggest surprise was how much better it was than the commercials made it look.
