Review of Apollo 18 (2011) by Anthony G — 23 Feb 2014
After seeing very poor ratings, I found this movie surprisingly good. Scenes from orbiter and on surface of the moon were all presented realistically and accurately so far as I could tell (I consider myself to have a good understanding of basic astronomy/astrophysics).
Acting was pretty good, especially in comparison to similar movies in the genre (think Europa Report). Characters were believable and the film contained just enough humor to make the characters likable without being annoying.
Most importantly, the plot was pretty good and original enough to keep me entertained. Of course the overall premise is a bit far fetched, a predatory/parasitic species would have a hard time surviving on a moon which has no atmosphere, water or liquid of any kind, or other organism on which to feed other than one cosmonaut and a few stray astronaut.
If you cannot suspend your disbelief this much, you've made a poor decision to watch this a film in the first place.
