Review of Apollo 13 (1995) by Kevin G — 22 Sep 2010
Still stands today as one of my all-time favorite films. You know how it will end before they get to space, but it still strikes an emotional chord. This film features great performances form Ed Harris, Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton.
The film is formula, but it is done so well that that part is irrelevant. Ron Howard did an excellent job making this movie an event rather than a play-by-play of what happened. The tension feels real and it makes the slash-down even more effective. I think it is Ron Howard's best film.
