Review of Apollo 13 (1995) by Mike L — 30 Aug 2009
For some reason I remember the "Apollo 1" accident more than this one as a kid even though it happened 3 years earlier.
As for the movie this worked well in bringing back the excitement of the Apollo days. I thought the crew (Hanks, Bacon, and Paxton) along with Mission Control, specifically Ed Harris were spot on in their portrayal and acting. This premise works very well as the feeling of hopelessness and survival are heightened due to the compactness and distance of the space module.
Much like Titantic, since we know the outcome before hand the script and acting have to be well done to bring a fresh approach to the story, this one did.
