Review of Apollo 13 (1995) by Cody H — 20 Aug 2011
Just a fantastic film. Great depth right from the beginning as three astronauts are suddenly in the hot seat of one of the greatest experiences; going to the moon. It's a story about real bravery, courage, and the journey that united the country in praying for their return.
The tension and the loss that those three astronauts had to endure and accept is gripping in Howard's ability to put us right with them as they figure out how to survive, and as control figures how to salvage and save the mission.
Powerful performances and gripping shots amplify the beauty of this extraordinary true life event.
