Review of Apocalypto (2006) by Carrie R — 13 Jan 2012
Any movie set in a rain forest already has a head start. I love this movie. The obvious aspect of it is the violence. Despite it being horrifically graphic, it serves to underline the very real struggle the protagonist has to face.
This is not Hollywood invented gratuity, but a historically accurate accout of what one human can do to another. The story is passionate as the hero struggles to save his young family against all odds.
There is a mystical aspect to his survival which makes the adventure all the more poignant.
