Review of Apocalypto (2006) by Jared C — 18 Feb 2012
Well after Mel Gibson gave us Passion of the Christ, I guess he wanted to give us more carnage only in the form of not something biblical. The cultural side of Apocalypto of the Pigmys and Aztecs are superb, the way of survival out in the jungle, the sacrifices in the city its all culturally well done.
However this is certainly not a film to show to school children for history lessons. The film is dark, scary and at times really brutal and gruesome. The direction done by Mel is fantastic, real piece of work so well done.
Otherwise for those who loved Dances with Wolves and the Seven Samurai should try out this foreign action art-house flick.
