I wasn't impressed with the ending nor was there enough character development, but I was very surprised by it's historical accuracy associated with the fall of the Mayan civilization, let alone very violent.
I was also very gripped by the main character's escape to his rightful reunion, with a lot of gripping solid bloody action along the way.
