Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Mitchell B — 03 Jun 2013
I like a good descent into madness and this is about as good as it gets. Though arguably unhinged to begin with, Sheen's Captain Willard is led on a journey to insanity that seems inexorable and inevitable.
Watching this now in HD I was struck with just how beautiful this terrible river ride is, almost an (no doubt intentional) assault to the senses in places. And the finale is brutal in its shock value, adding to the feeling that you can't and shouldn't be watching what you are.
