I'm not just being a contrarian, but apocalypse now is not a war movie. It is a story of personal transition that takes place in the setting of a war, and unfortunately the catharsis fails because it forced upon the view with a very heavy hand, but who cares- this art film is absolutely gorgeous, and proof positive how we judge with our eyes above out intellect.
