Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Logan W — 20 Sep 2014
Masterfully shot and produced. Hallucinatory visuals that were nightmarish. And top-notch acting methods. I will say I watched this all the way through less for enjoyment and more for pop culture credibility and also to be able to say, "Yeah I've seen it all the way through," without lying.
The movie, nonetheless, was overweight and layered with excess. If they had just shrunk it down, cut it closer to the bone it would've kept it from dragging a magnificently large fraction of the movie, thus alleviating the pain of sore-ass boredome, and, all in all, making it a much better movie in my opinion.
It was, in fact, a chore to watch, and made this job seem actually work-based. However, it did do what it set out to do. It revealed to us "the horror, the horror", the unmerciful, hell-on-earth horrors behind war and the long-term effects it has on people.
It features the turmoiled struggle of mankind in battle and the darkened hearts it creates. It has stood the test of time, despite my take on it, and, ever still, remains a critically and userly-acclaimed film in the world today.
I must alert you though. If you have a short attention span like me and like more breakneck movies, then this movie is not for you.
