Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Zach L — 25 Feb 2015
5/5 Dark, haunting, psychedelic, and challenging. Apocalypse Now is not as much about the actual war as it is about human nature and its limits. Its dark visual style pulls audiences in and never lets them go.
Many complain that the movie is not fully about Vietnam, but Francis smartly states, "It isn't about Vietnam, it is Vietnam." He says this because all the themes, characters and story produce the true feeling of the madness, chaos, and darkness of war.
Apocalypse Now is one of the great pieces of filmmaking and my all time favorite movie.
