Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Ian C — 26 Feb 2015
Joseph Conrad's novel is adapted for the big screen and transported to the Vietnam War. A stone cold masterpiece. One of my all time favourite flicks. Sheen's best film. From start to finish it is full of countless genius dialogue, the cinematography is out of this world, the use of The Doors The End at the start and the end is immense.
Never did a tune some up a film or scene in the history of cinema. Robert Duvall gives his most memorable performance as the surf obsessed Lt. Col. Kilgore. The climax captures the real madness of the war and film with Brando chilling as Kurtz.
The Horror, the horror. Hopper is insane as the manic photographer. The film is the same age as me and it still looks as if it could have been made yesterday. "The horror! The horror!".
