Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Zak S — 30 Jan 2013

Frame of reference: I just watched the original Apocalypse Now, not the Redux version. I'm not really sure where to begin. This film was absolutely amazing. It had me hooked right from the start I loved Martin Sheen.

I really bought into his spiraling journey towards hell. So captivating. It was only at the very end that the weirdness started getting to me. But the rest of the film was so damn good that I can't knock any points off of it.

I'm beyond intrigued to check out the Redux now because I'm not sure how this film could really be improved upon. I feel like it's going to be a very different experience. Beautifully shot and edited.

One of my new favorites. Can't believe I waited this long to watch it. [5/5 STARS] [013013].
