Review of Anything Else (2003) by Andrew W — 15 Sep 2009
If you have seen any of Allen's romantic comedies, than you pretty much know what you are going to get here. A lot of funny one liners and observations from hyper intelligent neurotic characters filled with self doubt.
I personally am a fan of these kind of movies and found this film to be bellow Allen's classics such as Annie Hall and Manhattan, but still worth watching. That being said, I feel that Anything Else had a pretty low degree of difficulty (just put the writer/director's self esteem and relationship issues on paper and craft some side characters who exacerbate them, and start filming).
While Jason Biggs did not ruin the film, he clearly was not the right choice for the lead.
