Review of Anything Else (2003) by Lyndsay P — 03 May 2010
I think Woody Allen is great and I completely understand the characters in this movie. But Jason Biggs, while performing better than I've ever seen him perform, is a little too obvious, flat and uninteresting in this role.
His face never conveys any of the genuine frustration with Christina Ricci's character that is absolutely necessary to make us like him and understand why he stays with her. Everyone did neurotic beautifully but I think there is and should always be a lot more to a Woody Allen film than neurosis.
I adored Woody Allen in his role. The whole interaction between him and the people who steal his spot is completely wonderful.
