An interesting critique on American sports culture, however, Oliver Stone's typical over the top directorial style doesn't work as well for Any Given Sunday as it has with his previous movies. Had he toned it down a little and focused on shooting his movie in a more straightforward manor, it could have been brilliant.
That being said, Al Pacino's performance is brilliant and his speech to his team during the final game is nothing short of one of the best speeches given in any sports movie.
